Batalo East piloted work with prison outreach programming in Uganda in Lira, in coordination with the Lira Peace and Justice Commission. In this way, Batalo East sees outreach work as a complementary and value-added role – collaborating closely with existing youth-focused outreach initiatives to strengthen and enrich their activities, whether it be through presenting dance and hip hop theatre as a method of story telling, or introducing traditional meets urban activities to challenge young people’s interpretation of the role of traditional art in their lives and personal development.
